Aurangzeb appointed renowned architect Ustad Ata-Ullah to design the monument in 1660, the same year his mother died. This monument is a beautiful example of Mughal architecture adorned with intricate designs and stone The exterior of the memorial is built in the shape of a four-mouthed dome and is surrounded by four minarets. It is called the 'Crown of Deccan' because it has similarities to the Taj Mahal.
